Google Home and Home Mini launched in India starting at Rs. 4499

The company will be holding an event in Delhi where it will unveil its range of smart speakers in the country.

As promised, Mountain View-based Internet search giant Google has today launched the Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers in India. The speaker also supports Chromecast, letting users stream movies, shows, and music onto their connected TVs or Google Cast speakers.

These devices join the Made by Google family of hardware products in India and will be available for purchase online exclusively on Flipkart, and in over 750 retail stores across the country including Reliance Digital, Croma, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales, Sangeetha, and Poorvika. Amazon sells in India Echo and Echo Dot, which will be direct competitors for the Google Home.

In those moments when voice won't do, the top surface is also a capacitive touch panel, thereby enabling the user to play music or adjust the volume with a single touch.

Google India has tied up with several companies and shopping platforms to offer you a Google speaker nearly for free. Of the three offerings in the worldwide market, Google is launching two variants in India - Google Home and Google Home Mini.

The company also introduced special plans for all its existing and new customers and those who subscribe would get a complimentary Google "Home Mini" device. If you buy an Google Home Mini speaker on Flipkart, you will get a JioFi router free along with free music subscription. And it is available in Chalk and Charcoal, with Coral coming soon.

Earlier, Google had launched the Assistant in Hindi in Allo, and brought the English Assistant to more phones, besides making a special version available for Reliance Jio feature phones.

To recall, Amazon launched its Alexa-powered smart speakers previous year by integrating Indian services and dialect.

International Business Times, India was covering the Google's Tuesday event and had the chance to take the bigger Google Home for a spin.

Google Home will be competing with Amazon Echo. For Google devices, start with "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" to get answers from Google Assistant, set a reminder or an alarm and more. Its speaker is touted to deliver 360-degree sound and bears a 40mm driver, whilst it mic supports far-field voice recognition. Lastly, users get 10 percent cashback when purchasing using HDFC Bank credit cards.

These smart speakers also feature "Voice Match" which recognises your voice and accordingly gives you personalised information.

Google has revealed a few launches offers for the new Home products. When Echo detects the wake word, the device's light ring turns blue and begins streaming the request to the cloud where "Alexa" processes the request.
