Jimmy Kimmel apology for 'gay insult' on Sean Hannity tweet

After some acrimonious back-and-forth, Sean Hannity has tentatively accepted Jimmy Kimmel's call to end their back-and-forth, inviting the ABC host to join him for a debate on his Fox News program-but not without a little more scolding and the promise that, should Kimmel ding him again, "I'll punch back even harder". In the tweets, Hannity labeled Kimmel "Harvey Weinstein Jr." and #pervertkimmel.

On ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on April 2, Kimmel poked fun at the first lady's reading of a children's book at the White House Easter egg hunt. Kimmel appeared to be taken aback but instead of taking the high road, returned Hannity's invective by calling him "the whole a** circus".

Kimmel, in his Twitter message, said he hopes Hannity will "continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies". "On the surface, to be honest, it feels more like a forced Disney corporate apology directed more towards the LBGTQ community rather than about Kimmel's comments about the First Lady", the Fox host said. While he did not apologize to Hannity, he did offer regret for the joke that started the entire episode: "Mrs. Trump nearly certainly has enough to worry about without being used as a prop to increase TV ratings".

Hours later, when the dust settled Friday night, Hannity was calling Kimmel a "pig, pervert and racist", and Kimmel was teasing, "I'm starting to think SOMEONE has a crush on me". "You could be first lady of the United States".

Tough guys don't apologize, and if they must, they certainly don't do it on Fox News. "But now that Trump is president", Kimmel suggested, "Sean Hannity is unable to have anything but an erection".

Kimmel called out Hannity's hypocrisy by referencing Hannity's support for people like Roy Moore and Bill O'Reilly, both of whom have been accused of sexually assaulting or harassing women.

"I don't take joy in this, but I have just had it with the unrelenting hypocrisy", Hannity said. He went on to address the LGBT community, which he "did not intend to belittle or upset" by making jokes that insinuated Hannity had a sexual relationship with President Trump.

Hannity also warned Kimmel that he had more clips that "do not make you look good", but will not show them at this time.
