Google reassures critics that Duplex AI will disclose its robot identity

Google is working on some nifty new features for Google Maps, including a short list of your favorite places, the possibility of a "virtual positioning system" and more. We'll see what that looks like when the Duplex technology rolls out in testing as a part of Google Assistant this summer.

With the Google Duplex demo on-stage at I/O, it was quite apparent that the calls shown were of the highest quality.

Soon you'll be able to have a natural back-and-forth conversation without repeating "Hey Google" for each follow-up request.

Google said the software was developed to have "natural" conversations and would be able to accomplish real-world tasks for people via their phones. During its I/O developers conference this year, Google revealed its voice-based digital assistant using artificial intelligence "Duplex" that has the capability to speak in as close to a human voice as possible, male or female.
