John Terry not allowed Chelsea clause in Aston Villa contract

John Terry could sign a contract that sees him stay on at Aston Villa but miss any upcoming Chelsea matches next season.

He would also earn a £2 million bonus from his contract if Villa manage to beat Fulham in the play-off final at Wembley this Saturday. In the deal that Terry signed last summer, there is a clause that entitles him to a new 12-month contract if Villa are promoted.

Terry turned down Premier League offers last summer as he didn't want to face Chelsea competitively, having made over 700 appearances for the side over an 18-year professional spell in West London.

In contrast, Fulham, who finished five points above Villa, are a young team driven by the precocious talent of 18-year-old wing-back Ryan Sessegnon.

I just knew what he would give. "I really genuinely hope he triggers it", said Bruce.

Maybe on Saturday after getting the better of John Terry and scoring the victor, we will see Aleksandar Mitrovic doing the one arm raised Shearer celebration at Wembley.

Terry has been one of the standout defenders in the Championship this season, starting 32 league games and forming an effective partnership with Welsh global James Chester at the back.

"Over the course of two years now, the confidence that the manager has not only given myself but the entire team and the ability and the freedom to go and play no matter the situation has just brought the best out of us and I am no different". We believe in our style. When we played them earlier in the season [and lost], we weren't at full strength, and when we played them towards the back end of the season [and won], they weren't at full strength.

"Villa have players who have experienced playing in this stadium", said former Chelsea midfielder Jokanovic, who led Watford to promotion from the Championship in 2015. I use that on the field to make sure I'm doing everything I possibly can. He plays in a complicated position. "It" s going to be a long game and we are going to see.
