Donald Trump, left, and Kim Kardashian arrive for the Perfumania party celebrating the appearance of Kardashian on the reality show "The Apprentice", Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, in NY.

It's unclear whether Trump will ultimately grant Johnson clemency.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality star learned of Johnson's story on Twitter and reached out to Ivanka Trump who then connected her with Kushner.

The front page of Thursday's (May 31) edition of the Post features a photo of the popular reality-star in the oval office with President Trump accompanied by the headline "Trump Meets Rump".

She reportedly has been in contact with Kushner and the Trump administration over the case.

"Today is for you", Kardashian tweeted on May 30, which was Johnson's birthday.

Her husband Kanye West, who's previously met with Trump and who has recently supported him via the "Make America Great Again", hat was no wear to be seen.

Johnson, who was sentenced in 1997 after admitting to acting as an intermediary for drug pushers, said that the work Kardashian was doing would be a defining moment in U.S. history - on par with Rosa Parks' pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955. Kardashian West has been in touch with Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner for "several months now", Barnett said.

According to Johnson's daughters, the process has sped up considerably since Mrs Kardashian West's involvement.

"We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson's future and hopeful that she - and so many like her - will get a second chance at life".

The meeting with Trump, which was initially reported by @VanityFair, marks the culmination of months of @KimKardashian West's behind-the-scenes efforts to free #AliceMarieJohnson.

So far, appellate judges and the US Supreme Court have rejected her appeals for freedom.

Johnson was expected to be released under President Barack Obama, but was passed over when he granted clemency to more than 200 people for similar nonviolent offenses in December 2016. Listen, it's a not great state of affairs when you need a massive celebrity to get the attention of the president and fix gross injustices, but if Kim K. can get it done, more power to her.

According to the Associated Press, Johnson helped lead a multimillion-dollar cocaine ring from 1991 to 1994. I am not aware that Ms. Kardashian West brings the requisite record of experience to tackle these issues on a national scale.
