Realme 1 launched in India with 6GB RAM for 13990 rupees

Realme, a sub-brand of Oppo has launched the new Realme 1 smartphone in India today at Rs. 8,999. The Realme 1 is being touted as a low-priced premium-looking phone with an appealing design as well as powerful under-the-hood specs. Its first smartphone, RealMe 1 hopes to trump the Redmi ascendency with a series of features you'd normally find on more premium smartphones.

Oppo Realme 1 is actually the first smartphone by Oppo's sub-brand Realme. For those who are unaware, the Realme is a brand for youth and the phones manufactured will be sold exclusively via online channels only. It will go on sale from May 25 at 12 PM. These prices are very attractive and will give competition to likes of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Honor 7X.

The Realme 1 sports a 6.0-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and aspect ratio of 18:9.

The company says that the device comes with an AI Board assistant.

Oppo Realme 1 runs Color OS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

According to the Amazon page, the Realme 1 smartphone will come with a "unique diamond back design", thus making it stand out against the "generic" design that has become common in the affordable smartphone category. The top variant with 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage is priced at Rs. 13,990.

The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC coupled with 3GB, 4GB, or 6GB of RAM depending on the variant. The company plans to add a 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant at a later stage.

Additionally, SBI customers will be able to purchase the Realme 1 on a no-cost EMI option and a 5 percent cashback. The handset is available in two colours- solar red and diamond black.

The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,410mAh battery. For security, the Realme 1 comes with Face Unlock technology, but there is no fingerprint scanner. Users can also extend the storage via a dedicated microSD card slot. A free case and screen protector will be bundled in the box.

For photography, the Realme 1 comes with a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, bokeh effect, and LED flash support for better lowlight capturing.

Other noteable features on the smartphone are dual 4G VoLTE support, 3410mAh battery, 158 grams of weight, Face Unlock feature and much more.
