Samsung Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6: new mid-range offering

The Galaxy J6, and Galaxy J8, are meanwhile, budget Samsung phones boasting of a plastic body and edge-to-edge Infinity display. Both of these devices have a lot in common, but are different internally and also priced differently. It is further backed by a 3,500mAh battery and charges over standard micro-USB.

The new device will aim at combining the affordability of a mid-range smartphone with the appearance of a flagship.

The phone bears a similar design as that of Galaxy S8.

According to the same report, the new Galaxy device will feature a 5.8-inch FHD+ Infinity Display and will come equipped with a Snapdragon 660 processor that is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy A6+ has a metal unibody construction with 6.0-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display. At the front lies another 16-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture. All these phones also run Android Oreo software, which is a big differentiating factor from Samsung's past affordable phones. This panel has an 18.5:9 aspect ratio as well. The smartphone is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM. The expandable storage support is 256GB. These are not the only differences among the two handsets, they have different cameras too. There's a 16MP main sensor, and another 5MP sensor for depth effects and portrait mode. On the front is has a 24-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash. A 3500mAh battery is available on the phone. There is one 16MP camera on the back, while the front-facing shooter is 8MP. Samsung has included some AI features for the Camera app that automatically recognizes the scene.

The smartphones debut Chat-over-video feature. The chat window becomes translucent and is placed over the video, but we aren't very sure if that is super useful. The dual-SIM phone runs Android Oreo software and supports 4G LTE connectivity. However, we don't think Samsung did a very good job with these.

Samsung has priced the 4GB/64GB variant of the Galaxy J8 at Rs 18,990. There are cheaper smartphones available with same or better specifications. The market operating price of the device is Rs. 21,990 for the 32GB storage model and Rs. 22,990 for the 64GB storage variant. No word on whether or not the Galaxy S Light Luxury will be arriving in other markets. The duo will get Rs. 3,000 cashback via Paytm Mall and on purchases made using ICICI credit cards. The Galaxy A and J series will also come with "One time Screen Replacement Offer" for till June 20.
