Arsenal Sign Bernd Leno From Bayer Leverkusen

The 26-year-old made 230 appearances for Leverkusen across seven seasons in the Bundesliga and has won six caps for Germany but was not included in Joachim Low's 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Those discussions eventually led to Wilshere reaching a compromise which suited all parties, with the England global prepared to take a pay cut in order to stay on.

A statement on the Leverkusen website said Leno had "signed a long-term contract with the London club", adding Arsenal had "accepted the Leverkusen transfer conditions".

That has left a sour note with the former German global as he appeared on his Twitter page offering a parting shot at the club he spent five illustrious years between the sticks.
