Liverpool are keen on Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who also has admirers in the shape of European champions Real Madrid.

The 26-year old, who made 46 showings for the Blues last term, is away with national team duty with Belgium and may be packing his boxes in when he returns to London.

The club also has a long-standing interest in Jack Butland though that transfer will surely agitate the fanbase who have become accustomed to Chelsea winning trophies and only going after the best players in the world.

Indeed, the Costa Rica captain has been very inconsistent over the last two seasons, and has been part of the massive defensive problem troubling Real Madrid during this period, which explains why Los Blancos have been heavily linked with several goalkeepers in the last few summer windows, with Chelsea number one Courtois believed to be a top target.

Thibaut Courtois has been often overshadowed by David de Gea. Bringing a big name goalkeeper to Stamford Bridge could prove to be a bit of a hurdle though, with Champions League football not on offer for next season.
