Arjun has had the privilege of training against some of the big names in world cricket as he had been the net bowler for Team India during their overseas tours of England and Australia.

It's been five years, but Tendulkar is set to grace the back of an Indian one day strip once more.

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar was on Thursday included into the the India Under-19 squad, which is scheduled to play the two four-day matches in Sri Lanka next month.

Last year, Arjun was seen bowling at the India nets during the home series against New Zealand in Mumbai while a toe-crushing yorker that he sent down to Jonny Bairstow in the nets in England, had left the latter with an injury scare. Arjun is not part of the one-day squad.

"We are happy on Arjun being selected in India U-19 team".

The 18-year-old is a much different cricketer to his famous dad.

Last year, Tendulkar was selected to the Mumbai Under-19 squad after impressing at lower levels, and he has represented the Marylebone Cricket Club Young Cricketers. Asource close to the selection committee explained: "If you look at the list, Arjun is the only genuine quick bowler who has more than 15 wickets". Most of the bowlers above him are spinners with only Ajay Dev Goud (33 wickets) being a genuine all-rounder.

No wonder he will be compared with his father who used to just instil fears in the mind of the bowlers with his presence in the middle. "So a lot of boys ahead of Arjun are disqualified", the official said. The 18-year-old, who has made his presence felt on the field by often tagging along and practising with his ingenious father, is now part of a squad that will play two four-day matches in July. He is another member of this Indian squad and he will have to perform. Another user Pradeep Kumar S tweeted, " let's give him a chance before concluding that he is in the team because of Sachin Tendulkar".

With designated India Under-19 coach Rahul Dravid away with the India A team in England, Arjun will work closely with former India batsman WV Raman, who is in charge of the Under-19 side for the tour of Sri Lanka. If he develops and improves his game according to expectations, he is expected to be a future member of the Indian worldwide side with players of his skill set being a rare commodity in the global circuit.
