Incoming Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri 'wants to sign Dries Mertens'

The 59-year-old is expected to be appointed in the coming weeks with Chelsea's plans to undergo managerial changes having been heavily delayed due to disagreements over compensation with Napoli. Sarri is already said to be considering new acquisitions.

The agent of Maurizio Sarri reportedly touches down in London to finalise a deal for his client to become Chelsea's new manager.

Sarri though remains a big fan of Mertens who he converted from a winger to a very successful striker at Napoli who consistently ended up as one of the top goalscorers in the Serie A.

Golovin's potential has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs with the Express claiming that Arsenal and Manchester United have held a long-standing interest in the midfielder while Italian champions Juventus have also been linked more recently.
