Police in IL released video showing the moment an officer stopped to save a young boy he saw running on the side of a busy road.

"I was praying to God he wouldn't make a left turn to enter that lane of traffic", Mannino said.

Mannino, who was on patrol, stopped his police auto to block a lane of traffic, ran after the child and scooped him up, telling him "you're OK".

During the chase, a large truck could be seen passing within a few feet of the child at a high rate of speed.

The officer then picked the child up, carrying him out of harm's way.
