Toure accuses Guardiola of 'not liking African players'

Ivorian footballer Yaya Toure has taken a dig at his club coach Pep Guardiola a couple of weeks before he leaves Manchester City.

Manager Pep Guardiola embraced Yaya Toure as the midfielder came off with four minutes left in Manchester City's last home game of the season. "When you see the problems [Pep] has often had with African players, everywhere he has been, I ask myself questions".

"I'm not the first person to talk about his different ways of treating people".

"I think I was dealing with someone who just wanted revenge on me", said Toure.

Toure struggled for regular starts under Guradiola over the last two years, making just 17 appearances in all competitions last season and admits he wondered if his lack of playing time was down to his "colour".

However, Toure believes his previous history with the coach, who sold the player in 2010 during his time in charge of Barcelona, led to an uneasy relationship during their a year ago together in England. Maybe he was afraid of losing control of the dressing room if I left because he knew what I was representing for the group? "But the day he picks a team with five Africans in, I promise I will send him a cake!" As if I made him a little shade.

"Like all players, I have bickered with my coaches. As if, also, he had understood that I knew him perfectly".

Guardiola, Toure said, will never face any type of punishment as a result of these accusations because he is "too intelligent" to be held accountable. But at a certain point, men who do not understand each other reconcile.

Guardiola will miss City's first game of the Champions League next season, although a second match will only be added if he receives disciplinary action for a further offence next season.

Guardiola is "very rigid", Toure said. "I'm not the first, other Barça players asked the question too", France Football's Pascal Ferré quotes Yaya in his interview. Because he manipulates and plays a lot with your head.

I would have liked to leave with emotion of this club as could [Andrés] Iniesta or Buffon. Pep wants to be considered a genius. I feel like that Pep, without respect, did everything to ruin my final season.

Manchester City have been approached for comment but as of right now, nothing else has been said.
