Moments ago, fans got their first look at Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman sequel; actress Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins shared stills from the movie via their social media accounts.

In a pleasant morning surprise, Warner Bros. has released the first Wonder Woman 2 images from the highly anticipated sequel, as filming on the follow-up is now underway.

The first movie does jolt back and forth across time between the present and World War I, and Wonder Woman appears in other DC films set in the modern era. Last month, Warner Bros. purchased numerous website domain names for the sequel, including wonderwoman1984.com, wonderwomanlives.com and wonderwomanreturns.com, igniting fevered speculation about the title.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the follow up to the 2017 sensation that grossed $822 million at the box office and received widespread critical acclaim. In addition to Gadot and Pine, the sequel's cast includes Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig in the role of the super-villain The Cheetah. Are you glad to know that Chris Pine will be back as Steve Trevor?

Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones and Gal Gadot are producing the film.

Production will take place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands.

Directed by Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Kristen Wiig, Wonder Woman 1984 is slated to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson ("United 93") will cut the film.
