Australias Finch smashes own record for highest T20I score

Australia's Aaron Finch smashed his own record for the highest individual score in a T20 worldwide on Tuesday, blasting 172 off 76 balls in a tri-series match against Zimbabwe in Harare.

A day after leading his team from the front to a big win over the No.1 T20I side - Pakistan, Aaron Finch ran through the record books with a stunning knock. Yeah I did know about it ( holder of two highest individual T20I scores), it's just one of those days where few things went my way.

Finch and Short put on 223 for the first wicket, which topped Williamson and Guptill's previous highest T20 global partnership for any wicket of 171 (unbroken) against Pakistan in Hamilton in January 2016.

In reply, Zimbabwe fell 100 runs short after it managed to post 129/9 in the full 20 overs.

Finch's sparkling innings of 172 came off just 76 deliveries and included a stunning 16 fours and 10 sixes.

During his knock and partnership with D Arcy Short for the opening wicket, they put together 223 runs for the highest partnership in T20I cricket.

Finch, meanwhile, brought up his second T20I hundred at the end of the 14th over, taking just 50 deliveries.

Batting against Zimbabwe in Harare, the explosive opener passed the 156 he made against England in 2013, and was then able to get Chris Gayle's 175 in his sights.

18 - Aaron Finch became the 18th batsman to score three consecutive T20I fifties. The highest individual score against Zimbabwe was Mohammad Shahzad's 118 not out.

"It's nice to break my own record", said Finch.
