Keri Russell Is In Talks to Join 'Star Wars: Episode IX'!

It will be exciting to see how Russell will play into the film, and which side of the fight she will be on.

The first new addition to the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX has been revealed as Variety reports that The Americans star Keri Russell has joined the J.J. Abrams-directed follow-up to The Last Jedi. Speculation on Episode IX's working title change has been spinning since last month and we're still in the dark on where our rebels are headed.

The forthcoming saga installment, as the outlet notes, marks another collaboration between Abrams and Russell, as the two previously worked together on the 2006 film Mission: Impossible III.

Disney, the parent company of Lucasfilm, had no comment on the casting. Yet. Abrams-created TV series Felicity, is joining Abrams in a galaxy far, far away.

Some fans speculate Russell may play Rey's mother in a flashback and, given the circumstances in which Rey was left, you can assume there will be some fighting involved.

The film reunites Russell with Felicity co-creator J.J. "I would do anything for JJ, honestly, I would do craft service".

Keri Russell might be shooting off to the Star Wars universe.

Variety reported a bit more on the future cast of Episode 9. Variety says Abrams expect to add two more actors to join the likes of Ridley, Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran before production begins at the end of the month.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens in theaters on December 20, 2019.
