Cam Newton confronts Kelvin Benjamin before Bills-Panthers game. Twitter goes nuts

Benjamin was a first-round pick by the Panthers in 2014 and played in 40 career games with them, catching 184 passes for 2,424 yards and 19 touchdowns.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" The video was overlaid with the captions "All love on this side" and "No excuses just work".

Perhaps in an unprompted manner like Benjamin, Newton clearly changed his mind. When Benjamin left Newton hanging, Newton asked for privacy and had an apparent argument with his former teammate.

Newton waved Davis away so he could have a one-on-one conversation with Benjamin, then followed the receiver as he tried to walk away. That is because the Carolina Panthers, like most teams, are likely to limit the amount of playing time for their starters to only a series or two in hopes of avoiding possible injuries to key players.

Benjamin had been pretty critical of the Panthers star in a recent interview.

The two met face-to-face for the first time before the two teams faced off in their preseason game on Thursday night and according to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, the meeting didn't go so well.

"I just think Carolina was bad for me", Benjamin told The Athletic.

Newton did his best to sidestep the comments by Benjamin.
