Fight fans are in for a treat as the UFC 25th Anniversary press conference will air live today (Aug. 3) at 4:30 p.m. ET.

McGregor will return to the Octagon after avoiding prison on assault charges following his attack on a UFC fighter bus in Brooklyn earlier this year.

The UFC dramatically announced the matchup on Friday with a promotional video to close a news conference promoting its slate of fight cards for the rest of 2018.

"For the fight with McGregor Khabib Nurmagomedov will receive a record sum for a Russian fighter competing in mixed martial arts", he said.

McGregor has not fought in UFC since 2016, but his fame grew so quickly he was regarded as a good enough opponent for Floyd Mayweather's retirement bout - a fight McGregor lost, albeit valiently, in the 10th round a year ago.

"I'm not fighting on that show", Diaz tweeted moments after stepping off stage, adding an expletive directed toward the UFC.

There's also a compelling November 3 co-main event bout at Madison Square Garden between McGregor's heated lightweight rival Nate Diaz and gritty Dustin Poirier, who has claimed three fight-of-the-night and one performance-of-the-night bonuses in his last four bouts. But once the event wrapped, White presented a video package that announced the return of the UFC's biggest star.

McGregor's comeback is not the only must-watch UFC event coming up on BT Sport however.

"Khabib will be preparing for the fight in the U.S., in San Jose", he added.

Diaz says that White did not have his back while he was battling a lawsuit from his 2016 fight with McGregor. "This is going to be one of the greatest fights you've ever seen". "It's good to have Nate back". In the interim, Khabib Nurmagomedov has taken the lightweight division by storm.
