Fetus discovered by crew on plane at LaGuardia Airport, sources say

The cleaning crew made the discovery at 7:30 a.m. while servicing the American Airlines flight that had arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday night, the New York Post reports. One of the attendants noticed a large amount of toilet paper in one of the plane's lavatory toilets.

The flight from Charlotte landed at Terminal B Monday night.

A cleaning crew discovered the fetus in the bathroom of a flight that arrived in NY from Charlotte, N.C., late Monday night, PIX11 reports.

Fetus was thought to be 5 months along.

"As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation".

The plane was parked by the American Airlines hangar - not at a gate - when the fetus was discovered.

But a spokesman for the airline said, "We have no major impact to our operation this morning while we are working with law enforcement on an investigation".

The Queens district attorney's office is investigating. Officials said a short time later that the flight was delayed until 4 p.m.
