Apart from coming on many - but not most - existing Android phones, the Android 9 Pie will also be the operating system inside the Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL that are likely to launch on October 4 this year as the official Android phones of 2018. These are the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel and Pixel XL.

For the past two iterations of Google's Pixel phones, the unveiling has happened on October 4.

The advert says Google is looking for "Canadian creators" to switch to the Pixel 3 and document their story when switching devices.
