Argentina footballer Gonzalo Higuain, who recently joined Italian football club AC Milan, has revealed that he would have chosen Premier League club Chelsea over Milan but not everyone in the club was interested enough to rope him.

Maurizio Sarri was hoping to bring Higuain to Chelsea which could have sealed the departures of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Higuain, 30, was likely to see his minutes at Juventus reduced in the upcoming season after the Italian champions' signing of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer.

The signing of Bonucci from Juventus past year represented a major coup for Milan, but the Italy worldwide defender failed to produce his best form at San Siro. The Rossoneri have the right to buy Higuain for EU36 million euros at the end of the campaign.

Higuain scored 40 Serie A goals for Juve after joining from Napoli in 2016.

"I have already worn a few shirts which carry a heavy burden, so the number nine shirt here isn't a problem", Higuain, signed on loan from Juventus, told reporters.

30 is no age to be winding down considering the number of resources available to players nowadays to aid conditioning and preservation of fitness and strength, with many professionals managing to remain at the top level of the game well into their thirties.
