Idris Elba, star of stage and screen both in the United Kingdom and USA, has had the door opened for him by franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, according to Training Day director Antoine Fuqua.

Elba has previously been mentioned as a possible 007, and was said to have been the favourite of then Sony chief Amy Pascal according to leaked documents from the Sony hack back in 2014.
