Apple iPhone launch: Everything you need to know

Rounding off several leaks and rumours from the past few days, it is quite clear that Apple could be launching three iPhone models at its September 12 event. Lastly, there will be an affordable version of the iPhone launching this year. So far, we already know that both of the premium OLED iPhones - the 5.8-inch and the 6.5-inch models - will be called the iPhone Xs, and the iPhone Xs Max.

According to the portal, the iPhone 2018 model would have at least two variants - iPhone XS and iPhone XC. "Now Mark Gurman believes that Apple will name the 6.1" 2018 iPhone as the iPhone Xr. Still, none of the phones will feature breakthrough new features, with more significant changes planned for next year, the people said.

The iPhone X was the first Apple smartphone to get an edge-to-edge OLED display and no home button or fingerprint sensor.

Apple's naming for the iPhone has seen its fair share of contradictory claims. Lately, unit growth has been running at about 1 per cent. However, now according to the latest reports, the tech giant Apple's next iPad Pro to ditch the lightning port for the USB-C. The good thing is that new iPhones will be available globally in less than two weeks of the announcement.

Apple is expected to release a larger version of the iPhone XS - the iPhone XS Plus, perhaps - as well as a less expensive version. Whether or not that means these devices can actually run iOS is unknown. The new iPhones are expected to be available in India around the same time.

Even though you hoped for a cheaper price as the budget term implies, the iPhone 9 is still an Apple product and an iPhone so in concordance with the company's pricing plan, we do not think the iPhone 9 can be cheaper than €799 (£713.83). They'll come in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes and could give Apple a boost in the slowing tablet market. A redesigned version would be needed for these new models.

While this particular design choice is said to be on Apple's roadmap, it remains unclear if we'll see it in 2018 or on the Apple Watch Series 5.

Finally, as expected, AirPods 2 will show up, as will AirPower, the wireless charging pad that was announced at last year's event.

Kuo reiterates that the next iPad Pros, which might be announced alongside the three rumored iPhones, will have Face ID. These will be some of the most significant upgrades to the iPad in the device's history.

Other possibilities include a new iPad Pro, a closer look at the new Apple Park campus and political commentary from Tim Cook.
