Maurizio Sarri is open to hiring John Terry as an assistant coach with Chelsea.

"Still undecided what I'm doing next". He is the best captain I've ever played under. "My feeling is that we are not a very solid team in the defensive phase, we need to improve and we can, my feeling during the training is that this team can improve".

It is unclear whether another playing offer will come in for a player of Terry's age, but regardless it seems as though his coaching career will start at his old club.

"We need another step to be at the same level".

"The last time I spoke with him, a week ago, he told me he wants to play for another season."

"I don't know the situation, I have to speak to the doctor, I don't know if he will be able to play". "It's very hard. The gap last season was 30 points (between fifth-place Chelsea's 70 and City's 100) so to go above 30 points in one season is very, very hard".

"They are an ambitious club and I have been very impressed with their professionalism".

"He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent. It will be a very hard game for everybody who plays Cardiff".

'Sarri has had a very impressive start to life managing Chelsea, ' the former Arsenal and England defender told Sportingbet.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a doubt for the game with an injury, while Emerson and Davide Zappacosta are also unlikely to feature.

"Mentally the match after the (international) break it is very hard; materially because we will play against a very physical team", he said.

"We have to make decisions, which I do with the owner in terms of what we can do and what we can't do".
