On video, Delhi cop’s son thrashes woman; arrested after Rajnath Singh intervenes

A Delhi policeman's son, who is seen brutally thrashing a woman in a video that has gone viral, was arrested Friday after being charged with rape and criminal intimidation in two separate cases, police said here.

When Tomar allegedly threatened her again, the woman again approached the police.

The woman in the video was then identified and approached on Thursday night after which she gave a complaint to the police on Friday alleging that she has been raped. "I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner (Amulya Patnaik) on the phone and asked him to take necessary action", the Home Minister tweeted.

A case has been registered against him on the charges of assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code.

The accused was employed with a call centre till last month and is now unemployed.

The woman alleged that the accused started beating her when she told him that she will file a complaint with the police, he said. Rohit was seen beating up a girl in the video while one of his friends recorded the incident. The police said the video was shot in Uttam Nagar on September 2. The girl is said to be his ex-girlfriend to whom he has repeatedly threatened to harm her with assault, acid attacks, abuse and harassing for the for the past two-and-a-half months since their breakup. A Twitter user posted the video in the comments section of the Union minister's Twitter handle, where the accused can be seen mercilessly hitting the woman several times.

In the video, Tomar is seen dragging the woman and brutally assaulting her.

"A video of a man thrashing a woman ( in Delhi's Tilak Nagar) has come to my notice".

The woman seen targeted in the video was traced and convinced to file a case against him, the police said.
