You can order the new Mac mini today ahead of its official debut on November 7. It starts at $999 CAD, and for that you get a quad-core Intel Core i3 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Probably the biggest announcement for computer enthusiasts was that of the new Mac Mini, after all it has been quite some time since this range was updated.

The device comes with four to six cores, both with all 8th-gen Intel CPUs.

You can also string multiple Mac Minis together for even faster processing, even use them as the basis for a server centre. On the port side, there are four Thunderbolt 3 ports, HDMI, two USB-A ports and Ethernet.

At a press event today, Apple today announced the updated Mac Mini. The "budget" MacBook Air is pricier than ever with a starting cost of $1,199 United States dollars, that ultimately topping out at $2,599 USD.

We're still awaiting United Kingdom prices but expect the Mac Mini to be available at the same time as in the US.

We don't have any more details just yet about mid-range and high-end Mac mini 2018 configurations, but all Mac mini 2018s will come with the Apple T2 security chip, which comes with an SSD controller with on-the-fly data encryption for "industry-leading security".

The Mac mini 2018 ditches standard hard drives for SSDs, offering up to 2TB of super-fast storage space, which will make opening and editing large files and complex apps faster than ever. It has more than five times the performance, up to 6-core desktop-class processors, an Apple T2 Security Chip, faster memory up to 64GB, high-performance all-flash storage, and is packed with advanced ports including four Thunderbolt 3, two USB-A, HDMI video, audio and Ethernet up to 10Gbps.

All of the new Mac mini models come with Intel UHD Graphics 630, and support up to 3 displays. And Apple let that refresh sit for a long time without an update.
