The 30-year-old tapped out midway through the fourth round against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, who then vaulted the cage and attacked someone from McGregor's camp, while the Irishman was set upon by at least two men who entered the octagon. Shortly after the contest had drawn to a close, Khabib Nurmagomedov leapt out of the Octagon and attacked McGregor's teammate Dillon Danis.

On Monday, UFC president Dana White appeared on ESPN's First Take and said McGregor is looking for a rematch with Nurmagomedov immediately.

Footage has now emerged of vicious fighting outside the arena.

One Irish fan is knocked out and left with blood streaming from his face during the disturbing incident. "They are withholding Khabib's purse, they are not withholding Conor McGregor's".

White told reporters for ESPN that the Nevada State Atheltic Commission is now holding both McGregor's and Nurmagomedov's fight checks until further notice.

"We lost the match but won the battle", he wrote.

"I don't know when things started turning into some kind of s- show?" "But [McGregor] talked about my religion, my country, my father. But what are you going to do when a guy flies like a monkey over a cage?"

Some will argue that a rematch doesn't make sense on merit but even the most naive of fans must be aware that money matters more than anything to a fight promoter and there is no bout more lucrative than Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor II right now.

McGregor also mentioned the name of former middleweight king Anderson Silva before his fight with Nurmagomedov - hailing him as a "legend" of the game and touting the notion that he would be interested in taking on the Brazilian.

"I told you, on October 6, I'll tell you everything, or did you really want to beat me there?" McGregor's signature pre-fight trash-talk gab took on a more insidious nature, which clearly got to Nurmagomedov and exploded into violent chaos after the fight was supposed to be over.

"Unfortunately, he is going to be suspended for a period of time, which means that the belt would probably be stripped from him".
