Get out and see the 'Hunter's Moon' rising tonight

It is a slight variant of the full moon and is said to have traditional significance.

Other names for the November Full Moon are Frost Moon, Trading Moon, and Snow Moon.

The names of the full moons throughout the year originated hundreds of years ago from the Native Americans.

At this point in the year, sunset and moon rise are closer together than normal and it's this light that traditionally made October the best time to hunt. "Since the harvesters have reaped the fields, hunters can easily see the fattened deer and other animals that have come out to glean (and the foxes that have come out to prey on them)".

It then waxes to a gibbous moon before becoming a full moon.
