Manchin is a former governor who has held elected office in West Virginia for much of the past three decades and has crafted a personal brand that has appealed to independents and some moderate Republicans - voters he'll need this fall. It is one of several races in a midterm election that Trump termed "one of the most congressional elections in our lifetimes". But nobody has ever had a presidency like this. Trump has endorsed Cindy Hyde-Smith, who would need to win 50 percent of the votes to avoid a run-off on November 27. He said he achieved a 42-point victory in the state.

The crowd happily responded to prompts from Trump - and from Morrisey when he took to the podium - chanting "Joe's gotta go" and "Build that wall".

Trump told the crowd that Booker "ran Newark, New Jersey into the ground" and asked: "now he wants to be president?"

A large number of West Virginia voters, 33 percent, said Democratic Sen. Ferns, R-Ohio, is the current Senate Majority Leader and faces a challenge from Democrat William Ihlenfeld, a former USA attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.

"When I say and come out with very, very strong statements about the media, I'm talking about the fake news media. I believe the person is more important than the party".
