The rapper, who has been a vocal supporter of Mr Trump, will also meet White House senior adviser Jared Kushner.

Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner also will meet with West on Thursday, Sanders said. After meeting Trump shortly after his election victory in 2016, West caught some flak for a series of pro-Trump tweets, and deleted his Twitter account last May.

West's visit to the White House falls in line with Kushner's efforts at criminal justice reform.

The two men are expected to discuss prison reform, gang violence and and manufacturing resurgence in the US.

The meeting, first reported by The New York Times, comes after Kanye's controversial September 29 Saturday Night Live appearance in which he gave an unscripted speech praising the President and denouncing the Democratic Party. "West grew up and recently said he planned to return, according to the person briefed on the meeting", said the Times. "He's racist", said West.

It's unclear whether the White House will open West's visit to the press. Do you know how wrong about politics you have to be for, like, me to notice? "Liberals can't bully me, news can't bully me, the hip-hop community, they can't bully me".

"What Kanye said after we went off the air last week was one of the worst, most awkward things I've ever seen here", the 24-year-old comedian said.
