Avicii Wins MTV EMA for Best Swedish Act

BTS and their fans, K-pop girl group Loona and Malaysia's Joe Flizzow bagged awards at the 2018 MTV EMA (Europe Music Awards) held at Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain on November 4 (Nov. 5 in Manila).

Other notable performances included Bebe Rexha singing "I'm a Mess" while in a bathtub surrounded by nurses and 100 dancers and Halsey performing "Without Me" surrounded by rainfall.

French DJ David Guetta, up for best electronic artist, and Nicki Minaj, competing in the hip hop category, will perform at the show which starts at 9 pm (2000 GMT). For Best Group, BTS beat out 5 Seconds of Summer and PRETTYMUCH to take home the prize.

USA veteran Janet Jackson was crowned a "global icon", a title previously awarded to U2, Queen, Whitney Houston and Eminem.

Janet Jackson has made an emotive plea for women's voices to be heard in a more loving world. She was nominated alongside talented African musicians; Davido (Nigeria), Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DRC), Nyashinski (Kenya) and Shekhinah (South Africa) - who walked the red carpet and attended the awards in Bilbao.
