The team was led by none other than LeBron James, but it was everyone else's added performance that led to the win.

The 36-year-old center, who signed with the Lakers this week after he was bought out by the Suns, grabbed a pair of key offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter of his team debut against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Tyson Chandler grew up in southern California but it was not until his 18th National Basketball Association season that he finally returned to Los Angeles.

Chandler finished with nine rebounds in 23 minutes in the Lakers' 114-110 win over the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Another big in the paint is exactly what the Lakers were lacking and coach Luke Walton stated as much following the 114-110 victory.

James led the Lakers with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists to finish just a dish shy of his 75th triple-double while Kuzma drained 6 of his 21 points in the final minute to help the Lakers stay afloat.

"When you're homegrown and going to high school here, now you have the same fans and you represent the jersey everybody has been cheering for their entire lives, you kind of become one". "It's incredible. I haven't played with a closer like that since Dirk".

"You can tell he's a young-old guy that's happy to be back home, and he played with a lot of energy tonight", said Rajon Rondo, who was thanked by Chandler for vocally directing him around the court. Josh Hart provides a spark off the bench with 21 points while Kyle Kuzma adds 21 points of his own.

"I love this city the way they love me", Chandler said to McMenamin.

Powered by their veteran backcourt, the Wolves got 31 points from Derrick Rose and 24 from Jimmy Butler.

Thibodeau said Butler, who has requested a trade, is still trying to get in game shape. His availability for Saturday's game against the Sacramento Kings is now unclear.
