Magic Johnson reportedly 'admonished' Luke Walton over slow start in meeting

Asked by reporters Saturday about the meeting, LeBron James said his focus and the team's remain exclusively on winning basketball games.

When you throw LeBron James into the drama known as the Real Lakers of Los Angeles, we knew the results would be spectacular. According to Tania Ganguli and Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, even though Johnson was mad at Walton in their meeting, he doesn't make "rash" decisions and Walton's job is safe.

"We need to figure out how we can string together some great games or even good games and bring our win total from where it is now". The Lakers then had to survive a late-game scare from the Mavericks on Halloween as Dallas almost overcame a 19-point deficit.

"As I was talking to Luke [with Pelinka], we said, 'Don't worry about if we get out to a bad start, '" Johnson told reporters in September.

Sources to The Athletic warned before the start of the regular season that Walton would. This is something that we do all the time. I've been saying [and] we've been saying since the beginning: We're going to be patient.

Walton was asked if he has expressed the challenges the Lakers coaching staff has faced with the new pieces, suspensions and constant search for chemistry with a shortened training camp and preseason. People don't know why they're in the game.

"Magic and I talk a lot about basketball and our team and his opinions and my opinions", Walton said.

"I'm going to go with Lonzo and LeBron. But again, the actual things being said, that's private front-office/coach stuff".
