Mortal Kombat 11 isn't afraid to shed a little blood in its cinematic reveal.

At the Game Awards 2018, the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, the latest entry in the classic fighting series, dropped with a brutal fight between Raiden and Scorpion.

Speaking of new characters, we learn in the accompanying press release that the mysterious individual seen at the end of today's trailer is a "new character who is at the center of Mortal Kombat 11's story".

The devious Scorpion and the seasoned Raiden fight it off in an epic battle of signature moves.

"'Mortal Kombat' is back and better than ever in the next evolution of the iconic franchise", the official description states.

The next Mortal Kombat will be out sooner than many expected, with a full reveal event planned for next month. Following the game's announcement, a press release was sent out that divulged new information about one of Mortal Kombat 11's most notable features: its custom character variation system.

The game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 23, 2019.

A community reveal event is slated for January 17th to see what's next for Netherealm Studios and Mortal Kombat 11, with a full release now keyed in for April 23rd, although whether it's available day and date on PC is one important bit of information we can hope Netherealm can share in the near future.
