New Game Of Thrones Season 8 Teaser Points To An Epic Showdown

HBO dropped our first look at Game of Thrones Season 8, and if this 39-second trailer is true to what's coming, we're not prepared.

The video shows the Painted Table at Dragonstone - the large carved wooden map of Westeros that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) has consulted since returning home - being consumed by ice and fire.

The frost, which likely represents the looming threat of Winter and the approaching White Walkers, continues until it reaches a dragon of House Targaryen. Both elements are seen existing in its natural habitat, taking over certain grounds and things get escalated when fire meets ice where the teaser ultimately ends.

The trailer doesn't give too much away but fans think it's hinting at the war to come in the next series.

The teaser was released at the São Paulo Expo in Brazil, an offshoot of San Diego Comic-Con, where showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss appeared alongside stars Maisie Williams and John Bradley.

Sometime in August this year, HBO released the first official footage from the hotly anticipated final season which showed an embrace between Jon and Sansa Stark.

Earlier in the week Vladimir Furdik, the actor who plays the Night King, dished details about the show's sure-to-be epic final battle to the Hungarian website Sorozat Wiki. This will be the last season of the show. Nearly the full episode will be about the battle, it will take about an hour'.
