Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg to host Golden Globe ceremony

The 76th Golden Globe awards are scheduled for Monday, January 7th Australian time, with the ceremony commencing at midday AEDT.

While it is unclear if Samberg may be nominated in the Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy category, many have speculated that Oh could be nominated for her work on Killing Eve.

NBC confirmed Oh and Samberg would be hosting this year's awards earlier this morning via a statement credited to Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment, who extolled the virtues of their new hosts.

The Golden Globes Awards honor the best of both worlds every year, with statuettes handed out to the cream of the crop in television and film.

She's expected to also get a nomination on Thursday when the list is released for her critically acclaimed role in the BBC show Killing Eve.

The HFPA changed the title of the honorary position past year from Miss Golden Globe to Golden Globe Ambassador, seeking to make the position more gender-neutral.

The announcement that the Killing Eve star and Brooklyn Nine-Nine amusing man would host the evening was made Wednesday afternoon. Oh is the first person of color to emcee the show. NBC has hosted the Globes broadcast for the last 23 years. The show will air live coast to coast starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Beverly Hilton. That was down slightly from the 2017 show to a six-year demo low, but still ranked as the most watched awards show since the Oscars. Allen Shapiro, Executive Chairman of dick clark productions, Mike Mahan, CEO of dick clark productions and Barry Adelman, Executive VP of Television at dick clark productions, will serve as executive producers. NBC picked it up a few days later.
