Lexus LC Convertible Concept Headed To Detroit Auto Show

Here's a first look.

The creators of the LC Convertible describe the auto as an aspirational, halo vehicle for the entire Lexus brand.

Lexus hasn't mentioned what the concept is packing under the bonnet, but we suspect it boasts the same naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 (and ten-speed automatic transmission) as the coupé.

Lexus' seductive LC concept-turned-production-coupe showed us the Japanese automaker knew styling, and now the Lexus LC Convertible Concept is doubling down on that. The grin factor from that sweet-sounding V-8 should only increase with the removal of the top, something the LC convertible's chief designer, Tadao Mori, also noted. That appears to be Toyota and Lexus's thinking when it comes to next week's Detroit motor show.

Lexus has neglected to mention what powers the open-top LC show vehicle, though we'd expect the sonorous 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 is under the bonnet given the badges aren't shrouded in blue. The droptop sits low to the ground on 22-inch wheels.

From the comfort of its tailored seats to the feel of every switch and button, everything about this LC is crafted to make even the most common trip feel like an occasion.

The interior has been outfitted with white leather trim, while yellow accent stitching adds a bit of color to the otherwise monochrome theme.

Mori-san stops one step short of confirming it's on the way, declaring, "A production version of this concept would be exhilarating in many different ways". Well, there are plenty of options, but it would seem more than likely Lexus would opt for its existing engine line-up in the LC Coupe. Lexus is the hybrid leader among luxury brands, offering hybrids that provide the best in innovative technology and premier luxury.

Lexus describes it as its "aspirational, halo vehicle".
