Meghan Markle's half-brother arrested and "taken to detox centre"

Thomas Markle Jr, 52, was stopped by authorities in OR at 1:33am on Friday morning, according to TMZ.

E! News can confirm the 52-year-old was arrested for a DUI in the wee hours of Friday morning in OR, as first reported by TMZ. Authorities said his blood-alcohol content was 0.11 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Thomas, who is estranged from the Duchess of Sussex and has had a long history of run-ins with the law, reportedly failed a sobriety test, and was visibly drunk.

Markle, who is the son of Meghan's father Thomas Sr., was then taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center, while his Chevy Silverado was seized.

Meghan Markle, a former actress, married Prince Harry last May.

The former Suits actress - who is now pregnant with her and Prince Harry's first child - is estranged from much of her family, including her brother, her dad, Thomas Snr, and her half-sister, Samantha.

Their sister, Samantha, said: "His drinking is not related to Meghan".

Royal fans were shocked by the breaking news, with one commenting: "And yet her family members wonder why she doesn't want them around!"
