We get a good look at what Frank Castle has been up to since we last saw him, as well as his old buddy, Billy Russo - who has healed considerably since the last time we saw his face getting mashed in.

Marvel's The Punisher is about to get even more intense.

Check out the trailer below. The show, which stars Ben Barns (Russo) and Jon Bernthal (Castle), will return to Netflix on January 18. Season two finds Frank in all too familiar territory. Scenes from his backstory play out as the season's villain is introduced, Billy Russo a.k.a. Jigsaw, and the duo's dark past is teased in shifting scenes of evil planning and up-close combat between the two.

New and old enemies come into his life and he is pressured to make the decision on whether or not to fully accept himself as the Punisher.

Take a look at the new trailer below and let us know if you'll be tuning in. Following the cancellations of Iron Fist and Luke Cage (despite second seasons which were widely acknowledged improvements on the first) a bombshell was dropped with the announcement that Daredevil was also ending, shortly after its excellent third season premiered.

News has been coming out over the last week about the second season of the Netflix series with a release date and a few short clips being shared online. The Punisher season 2-which also stars Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Floriana Lima, and Giorgia Whigham-hits Netflix on January 18.

When that happens, it's very uncertain where the character would end up - as mentioned recently, The Punisher is probably exempt from the 2-year no-competition clause that prevents Marvel from making their own series based on the previously mentioned characters, but with his ultra-violent tendencies, Frank Castle will definitely not be an easy fit for the rest of the Marvel roster.
