Three Kentucky police officers had some fun to end as they "mourned" the loss of a doughnut truck that had caught fire.

Police in Lexington, Kentucky are in mourning, after a doughnut truck caught fire as it was passing through the town.

According to reports, the driver of the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts van realised that smoke was billowing from the carriage as he drove through Lexington.

Police captioned the photos, "No words".

"No words" as United States police find some humour after an empty doughnut truck caught fire.

The department posted an image of heartbroken officers with the caption, "No words".

It's not clear what caused the accident, but the police department indicated there were no injuries in the accident.

"We are so deeply sorry for your loss", officers with Massachusetts' Stoughton Police Department wrote in a tweet.
