The film has managed to collect Rs 8.20 crore at the box-office after first day of its release. While Uri: The Surgical Strike received mostly positive reviews, The Accidental Prime Minister got mixed reviews as some found it a good movie, while some others called it a propaganda film. Filmmaker Karan Johar watched the movie and was in awe of both Kaushal and director Aditya Dhar.
