This Year's Super Bowl Music Act Is A Safe, Expected Choice

The NFL officially announced Maroon 5 as the act that will be headlining the halftime show performance at the 2019 Super Bowl, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3rd. Acts like Cardi B or Rihanna REFUSED to participate at this year's halftime show for this reason.

Since 2016, some football players have refused to stand when the United States national anthem is played at NFL games in protest against the treatment of people of colour in the US. The former San Francisco 49ers player has gone unsigned by any team since the end of the 2016 season, during which he created the national anthem protest.

US President Donald Trump made the kneeling protest a major issue, calling anyone who did it a "son of a bitch" and saying they should be fired. "CBS and the National Football League reached out to Rihanna first, who, after thinking about the offer, chose to pass due to the National Football League and the situation regarding players kneeling".

The gig marks Scott's most high-profile performance to date, capping off an incredible year that saw him get a No. 1 album with Astroworld, multiple radio hits like "Sicko Mode" and a tour that had superstars like Beyonce, JAY-Z, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West in attendance.

According to reports, Travis Scott's charity efforts alongside the NFL will also extend out to other non-profits and initiatives that he will work with the league to decide upon.

Travis Scott hasn't mentioned his appearance on his social media channels yet.

The announcement, which was also shared by CBS Sports, the network broadcasting the event, comes after rumours began circulating late a year ago that Maroon 5 would take the stage.
