Head coach Steve Kerr said that Cousins's looming return comes as a result of his scrimmaging looking "much better".

The 28-year-old Cousins has spent the season rehabbing from an Achilles injury.

Standout center DeMarcus Cousins apparently finally has a target date to make his Warriors debut. "I've had a lot of dark days, a lot of good days", he told reporters.

Kerr's side will take on the Clippers on January 18 and then the Lakers on January 21.

Cousins recently ramped up the intensity of his workouts, joining the team for full practice.

That trip would be the days after the Warriors face the Clippers on January 18 at Staples Center and then play the Lakers on January 21 at the same venue.

Cousins' return will be a massive boost to the Warriors team, who were installed as overwhelming favorites to win their third straight National Basketball Association championship after his arrival in the summer. There, a healthy Cousins can alleviate pressure on Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant offensively, and give the Warriors a true big, allowing Draymond to roam from the post to perimeter defensively.

"I think it will happen around that time", Kerr said following Tuesday's 122-95 win over the New York Knicks.

The Warriors are now in second place in the Western Conference with a 26-14 record with the Denver Nuggets just ahead having lost two games fewer than the back-to-back champions.
