Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich subsequently gave an interview to the Associated Press explaining that Grande was in talks to perform, but ultimately "felt it was too late for her to pull something together".

A source told HL, "Ariana is excited, happy and determined to go on with her Coachella performance after her Grammys cancelation".

"We never got that far with her, and it's too bad", he continues.

The singer took to Twitter to clap back, as they say, at the Grammys for saying that she wasn't willing to put in the work.

"I've kept my mouth shut but now you're lying about me", Grande wrote in her first tweet.

Some of these perceived biases have been percolating for some time but especially in the past year following remarks last January by Recording Academy president Neil Portnow that women need to "step up" to gain more recognition at music events like Grammys. Despite these creative obstacles, Ariana has made a decision to not let her fans bear the brunt of this.

Variety reported this week that Grande had a disagreement with Grammy producers on which songs she would perform, so she pulled out.

Alicia Keys will host the show which airs February 10 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
