Dua was overwhelmed with emotion while waiting backstage as the victor was announced following her performance with St. Vincent.

Portnow said in an interview with Varietyin 2018 that female musicians should "step up", when responding to criticism that only one female solo artist took home a Grammy in 2018. "I want to say a really big thank you to my fans who have allowed me to be the best version of myself".

In 2018, Lipa founded and organized the Sunny Hill Festival, a three-day music event held in the Germia park close to Prishtina, hosting a mixture of celebrated local and global artists with Lipa as a headline act, as well as Martin Garrix and Action Bronson.

Dua Lipa won two GRAMMYs at this year's event.

"So many women!" Lipa continued. While Dua Lipa may not feel super new to us (I'm sorry, where was her Grammy for "IDGAF"?!), she's technically a new artist. The "stepped up" comment was referring to a remark made during last year's Grammy Awards by Recording Academy president Neil Portnow.

"And I'm proof that you can do whatever you put your mind to".

Later this month, Dua is also expected to appear at the Brit Awards, where she's among this year's most nominated stars. Part glittery silver fabric, part shiny pewter silk, the gown was the ideal look for Lipa's Grammys debut.
