The youngster was taken unwell during the Whites game against Middlesbrough and had to be stretchered off the bench, but his agent later tweeted that Clarke was fine after spending some time in hospital. The teenager was removed from the Leeds bench on a stretcher by paramedics, having had oxygen administered, and taken to hospital, from where he has since been released.

"What we know is that he didn't feel well", Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa said.

Spurs were strongly linked throughout the January transfer window while Arsenal have emerged as serious contenders for Clarke's signature during more recent times but it looks as though the north Londoners will face further competition.

"In the meantime we would like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes and once again thank Middlesbrough Football Club for all they did for Jack".

The rumours have it that if Leeds can secure promotion to the Premier League next season then they might make a move for James Milner and Liverpool are willing to offload the midfielder in return for Clarke.
