The network has announced this afternoon that "Modern Family" will be returning for an eleventh and final season, the news of which comes after the show's main cast all signed new deals to appear in another season.

The producers considered bringing the show to a close following its ongoing 10th season, but changed their mind as they workshopped ideas for new episodes.

Modern Family premiered in 2009 and served as an anchor for ABC's primetime lineup as it racked up five consecutive Emmy Awards for best comedy series from 2010 to 2014 and numerous awards for its many stars.
