This feature, according to the company, will help its iOS users manage their downloaded content much more easily on the Netflix app. Now when you finish watching a downloaded episode it will be deleted and the next episode will automatically download. This way, Netflix automatically does all the work for your downloads so you can keep watching shows without having to worry about manually downloading them or deleting the episodes to make space for new ones.

If you've downloaded one or more episodes in a series, Smart Downloads will delete the episode you've just finished and automatically download the next episode in the series on Apple iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch.

Android first received this feature back in 2018. Of course if you prefer to do things the old way, you can disable this feature.

Back in June of previous year, Netflix debuted a new feature called "Smart Downloads".

If a member downloads the last two episodes available, and watches them, the app does not delete them and does not download the earlier episodes. To do this, select the Menu icon and then "App Settings".

Smart Downloads, as the name suggests, is a smarter version of the Downloads feature that lets you save Netflix content to your device's local storage for offline viewing.

Netflix has announced the rollout of its Smart Downloads feature for the iOS platform. They will also have the ability to opt-out of this feature if they choose, the company said. Some subscribers noticed a pop-up that asked them if they wish to "watch this scene again".
