Shortly after Meghan Markle's friends addressed an emotional letter sent by the Duchess of Sussex to Thomas Markle following her May nuptials to Prince Harry, the royal's estranged father revealed the contents of the five-page note to The Mail on Sunday.

"Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing", Meghan wrote.

The Duchess owns copyright of the handwritten letter under United Kingdom law which was brought to light after five of her friends spoke about it for the first time in an interview with U.S. magazine People.

In the interview, Meghan's friends said that her father never called or texted her - something he denies.

Kensington Palace have yet to confirm whether the interview was conducted with Meghan's blessing or knowledge of the Duke and Duchess's staff.
