In a powerful homecoming address that has captured attention across Nigeria, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has emphatically declared her heritage amid what appears to be political tensions in the state.

“I am an ABA woman. This is my land. I am the daughter of Dr. Jim ABD. I know my roots. I am not a bastard, and I am not afraid of anybody,” the Senator declared during her visit to celebrate Sallah with her constituents, according to footage shared by TVC News on April 1, 2025.

The Senator’s visit came despite apparent attempts to restrict her movement into Kogi Central. According to her statement, there were barricades set up across major roads leading into the region, which she believed targeted her specifically.

“I knew that we were up for a challenge… I knew that we were the target,” she stated, while emphasizing that her visit was not political in nature. “This is not political season, this is not campaign time, we are not having a rally. This is just me, the Senator representing Kogi Central, coming to have people to celebrate this festive time, Sallah, with you.”

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan circumvented the reported road restrictions by arriving via helicopter, which she credited to her husband’s support. “I’m just a simple girl, simple poor Aira girl… Where would I have gotten the resources to hire a helicopter to bring me in today if not because of my husband?” she remarked, thanking her spouse for both financial backing and moral encouragement.

The Senator maintained that her visit broke no laws, stating clearly: “There is no law in the Constitution that prohibits me from coming home to celebrate Sallah with my people.”

While acknowledging statements from both the state governor and commissioner of police regarding movement restrictions, she emphasized that her gathering was taking place in a private home setting rather than on public streets.

This incident highlights ongoing political dynamics in Kogi State, where Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan appears to be navigating complex relationships with state authorities while maintaining strong connections with her constituents.
